What we collect, why, who helps us handle it, and how to have it deleted. Short version: we collect what we need to sell, ship and support your kit, we never sell your data, and your modules never send your location or VIN.
Effective October 26, 2026
This policy covers tetrofit.com, the TETROFIT iPhone app, the page your car's TETROFIT modules serve, and the TETROFIT update service. "TETROFIT", "we" and "us" mean TETROFIT, the maker of retrofit kits for the Legacy Tesla Model 3. TETROFIT isn't affiliated with Tesla, Inc.
To take and deliver your order we collect your name, email address, shipping and billing address, phone number if you give one, what you ordered and any discount or referral code used. Card details go straight to our payment processor, Stripe; we never see or store your full card number. We use this to fulfil the order, send order and shipping emails (and, if you enter your email at checkout but don't finish, one reminder a day later), handle returns and warranty claims, and keep the records the law requires for tax and accounting.
Sparky is the AI assistant on our site. Your conversation is kept in your own browser for 30 days so you can pick it back up; we don't keep chat transcripts on our servers. To answer, your messages are sent through our server to Anthropic, which provides the AI model. Under Anthropic's commercial terms, these messages aren't used to train its models.
We only keep what Sparky files for you: a message to support, a build request, a firmware issue report, a return request, or a sign-up. If you're a returning visitor, Sparky can also remember a few things you told it (such as your name, email, car, the kits you own, module addresses and an open support case) so you don't have to repeat them. Your browser holds a random ID; we store only a scrambled version of it. Ask Sparky to forget you at any time, and memories not used for a year are deleted automatically. Please don't share payment details or other sensitive information in the chat.
If you sign up, we keep your email address and what you're interested in, and send you TETROFIT news, product availability and firmware updates. Every email has an unsubscribe link that removes you from that list; to come off every list at once, email us.
TETROFIT modules never connect to the internet themselves and never record your location, your VIN or anything about your phone. Your phone carries the few things below between the car and our update service:
We use this to deliver updates, fix bugs and support your kit. Your car's Wi-Fi password and settings stay on the modules.
The app saves your car's Wi-Fi password in your iPhone's Keychain, on your phone only. If you allow notifications, we store your phone's notification token, which says nothing about you or your car, so we can tell you when new firmware is out. The app carries the car page's update and support traffic over mobile data to our update service; it has no ads, analytics or tracking.
We don't use advertising or analytics trackers, and our site doesn't set tracking cookies. Your browser stores a few things for convenience: your cart, your Sparky chat, a referral code from a link you followed (30 days) and whether you closed the banner. Stripe may use cookies on the checkout page to prevent fraud. Like any website, our servers briefly keep technical logs, including IP addresses, to run the site, stop abuse and fix problems. Sparky's hourly and daily message limits use your IP address in counters that expire within a day.
We don't sell or rent your personal information, and we don't share it for advertising. We use these service providers, each only for the job described:
Our store runs on servers we rent. We may also disclose information if the law requires it, or to protect our customers or TETROFIT from fraud.
Order records: as long as tax and accounting rules require. Sign-ups: until you unsubscribe. Sparky's memory of you: until you ask it to forget you, or a year after your last visit. Support messages and requests: as long as we need them to resolve them. Module update and diagnostic records: for the life of your kit, so we can support it, unless you ask us to delete them.
You can ask us what we hold about you, and ask us to correct or delete it, by emailing support@tetrofit.com or telling Sparky. We may need to confirm it's you, and we keep order records the law requires us to keep. Depending on where you live (for example California or the EU), you may have further rights, and we honour them through the same address. We'll respond within 30 days.
Our website, store and update service only use encrypted (HTTPS) connections, access to customer data is limited to TETROFIT, and secrets are kept out of our code. No system is perfectly secure, but we take care to protect your information.
Our site and products are for adults. We don't knowingly collect information from children under 13.
If we change this policy, we'll update it here and change the effective date. For significant changes, we'll also tell customers by email.
